Re: How to use simx{Get|Set}ObjectPosition() to record/playb

After trying a few more things, I have found that by setting the base of my robot to "Static", all parts of the robot move as expected in response to the simxSetObjectPosition() API, even when the simulation is running. In addition, the proximity and vision sensors seem to behave correctly, i.e. aft...

How to use simx{Get|Set}ObjectPosition() to record/playback

When I call simxSetObjectPosition() while the simulation is running, everything moves as expected, except for the wheels. Happens to my own model as well as to the ePuck model. Here is what I'm trying to do. Maybe I'm going about this completely wrong: * Using a choice of parameters for things like ...

How repeatable are dynamic simulations?

Given the exact same scene, same simulation parameters (dT etc) and the exact same client script or remote client application controlling e.g. a mobile robot, are dynamic simulations of this robot in its environmebnt 100% repeatable? Or is there an element of randomness embedded in the physics engin...

Re: How to use a vision sensor to detect infrared light (fir

I don't really understand how lights work. If I do make the light local and attach it to the vision sensor, then the light moves w/ my senser - and my sensor is mounted on a moving robot. If I DO NOT make the light local, it seems the light is "going through" my walls - this is the part I really don...

How to check if sim is paused/running/stopped (remote API)

My remote API client is running in synchronous mode. I like the fact that I can continue to use the V-REP UI to switch to different views etc. I also want to be able to pause the simulation at various points in time so that I can take time to inspect graphs etc. When the simulation is paused or stop...

Re: How to use a vision sensor to detect infrared light (fir

Thanks! I'll try that.

Will this light emitted by this shape (i.e. the candle) be reflected by other objects in the scene, such as white walls for example?

How to use a vision sensor to detect infrared light (fire)

One of the tasks my robot needs to carry out autonomously is find a "fire" - which is represented by the flame of a small candle (fire fighting robot contest - http://www.trincoll.edu/events/robot/challenges.html) My physical robot uses a special type of photo transistor that is highly sensitive to ...

Synchronous mode - how to replicate timing of my hardware?

I have managed to use the remote API and synchronous mode to "attach" my existing robot controller code to a model of my physical robot inside a V-REP scene. Congratulations to the V-REP team for making this so straight forward! I'd like the simulation to behave as close to the real world as possibl...

How to make V-REP wait >10seconds for simxSynchronousTrigger

I was able to modify bubbleRobClient so that it works in synchronous mode. I'm experimenting with this mode because I would like to be able to single step through / debug my robot controller code while the simulation is in progress - but I don't want the simulation UI to freeze nor do I want the sim...

V-REP hangs right after startup on Windows Vista 32-bit

Running Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop w/ Intel Graphics. At first glance, V-Rep seems to start correctly. Console appears, main window appears, but the default scene never appears and the vrep.exe process just starts to consume 100% of the CPU. Windows says "...Not Responding". So far...
