Re: Question about Synchronous mode in V-REP

Hello,

why can't you launch V-REP normally (i.e. without automatically starting the simulation) and have your Python code start the simulation?

Re: Connecting with the Remote API

Hello, did you try the simpleTest example script? V-REP will by default open a remote API server service on port 19997 at launch. So you do not need to do anything on the V-REP side if you connect your remote API client on that port. Otherwise, you need to open a remove API server service on the sam...

Re: sim.getVisionSensorDepthBuffer() confusion

Hello,

the depth map is the raw depth map and any filter will be ignored. You can either modify the buffer on the ROS client side, or inside your script via sim.transformBuffer and sim.transformImage, if you retrieved the buffer as coded string (sim.handleflag_codedstring).

Re: Importing a .stl file from script

Hello, this can happen if your STL file is ill-defined. Often an imported shape is also not visible if the scale of the shape is very large or very small. Did you try to convert to STL file to another format (e.g. OBJ) and import it again? What happens if you import the STL shape via the menu and no...

Re: Inverse kinematics calculation module

Hello, the IK modules works by linearizing around the current end-effector pose. So if the target pose is quite far away, then the calculated values will not be good and produce jitter/overshoot/etc. To avoid this, you can instruct the IK routines to detect joints that very by a large amount, and re...

Re: Introduce text-based file format for scenes and models

Hello, I perfectly understand your concerns, and I have to admit that this task has been pushed up/down quite often in the priorities list. I am not going to adventure into giving a release date of such a feature, since it will very very probably not be met, as we encounter higher priorities along t...

Re: A magnet keeps rotating when implementing magnetic dipoles in VREP

Hello,

not really sure how to implement this correctly, I would also have said to use damping. That this is always cheating. Did you try with a different physics engine? Is the result similar?

Re: DynCallback as Eventmessage in Plugin

Hello,

unfortunately this is not possible. You'll have to call a custom function inside of your plugin, from that customization script.

Re: The API function and joint dynamic properties of force control and position control for a primastic joint

To set a negative force, you'll have to set a negative target velocity (sim.setJointTargetVelocity). But you should keep the same amplitude of that target velocity.
