Re: Consistently simulating a full scissor parallel system driven by a single joint

Hello, the result is indeed directly linked to the used physics engine, and for each engine you could try to apply a different strategy/parameters for a better stability. Closed chains and parallel mechanisms are not always easy to be dynamically simulated. For that reason it is often better to take...

Re: Synchronous operation with Python using remote API

Probably 5ms is a bit too fast. Also because you want to run the remote API in synchronous mode. Make a few tests to see.

Re: What parameters in V-rep affect the attitude change of the object in the air?

Hello,

not sure what you mean. There is no wind or such in V-REP. Particles can collide with an object in the air and influence its attitude. Same for any other object that might be colliding.

Re: Why does dummies not follow their parent object's motion?

You haven't defined any IK groups or IK elements! Check maybe this tutorial.

Re: Franka Panda to V-Rep

Hello,

practically the operation is more complicated if you want to obtain a clean and lightweight model.
Best is to start from scratch from the manufacturer's CAD data. Then starting by simplifying the mesh, etc.
This tutorial gives a rough overview of what is required.

Re: Blob orientation

Hello,

the extracted blob orientation is always relative to the vision sensor's Y axis (or its viewing axis). You can't possible extract the full orientation of the object based on a single blob, since that is 2 D information.

Re: V-REP on Ubuntu runs 2x slower than on Mac or Windows

Hello,

I suspect that rendering is the culprit. You can see the rendering time in the Window bar.

Re: Simulation time step selection

Hello, your question is too vague. Not sure what the sliding you mention is. As to the simulation time step: it is really up to you. You should know that the smaller the simulation time step, the slower the simulation will run, and the more often the sensors and scripts are handled. But the larger t...

Re: Problems with kinect depth information (ROS V-REP)

The work image is a RGB image. The vision sensor image is also a RGB image. The vision sensor depth map is however an array of floats. So you will always lose some information when sending the depth map to the work image, or when sending the work image to the depth map. You will have to flip the dep...
