Re: What would the code looks like if I want turn on/off the spotlight from script?

Hello,

try with:

Code: Select all

simSetLightParameters(lightObjectHandle,state)
where bit 0 of state represents the on/off flag.

Re: Streaming video camera

Hello,

so if I understand you correctly, the simulation runs fine, but the client eventually hangs or freezes?
Can you provide a very simple sample code that illustrates this?

Re: simxLoadScene error

So how exactly are you using that function?

Following works fine and prints 0 for res:

Code: Select all

res=vrep.simxLoadScene(clientID,"c:/Python27/6DoFHolonomicPathPlanning.ttt",0,vrep.simx_opmode_blocking)

Re: What slows V-REP most?

Hello, 1. Make sure to import only small meshes. Otherwise you will slow V-REP down in various ways (rendering, calculation , etc.). A typical robot model should not contain more than a total of 10'000 triangles, otherwise you have done something wrong. You can of course have your robot with 300'000...

Re: Is it not possible to import obj/stl files in V-REP on ubuntu?

Hello,

Collada, URDF and SDF formats are supported via an import plugin. The other importers are integrated in V-REP and can be found under the File menu item.

Re: Slotting pin into hole only works when I scale up by 4

Hello, doing that kind of simulation is very tricky. It will depend on several factors (including on the physics engine you are using). But in the end, physics engines have difficulties and are slow when running with random-shaped rigid bodies. Best is to use approximations (e.g. the hole can be mod...

Re: questions about the e-puck in v-rep

Hello, about your questions: 1. You'll have to select the proximity sensors in the scene hierarchy and adjust their display layer for instance. Or you can also set their other properties. 2. You can try to use a color filter and a blob detection filter. The blob detection filter will return the x/y ...

Re: Can V-REP and Matlab be used to do automatically loop simulation?

You mean that simxStartSimulation and/or simxStopSimulation does not work? Or does it work but the simulation content does not get back into its original state?
In the simulation settings, you can modify the Reset scene to initial state item.

Re: V-REP doesn't see outputs from ROS

Hello,

it seems you are using the old ROS plugin for V-REP. Please use instead the newer and more flexible ROS interface.

Re: simxPackFloats in ROS

Hello,

have a look at the simxPackFloats function in the python remote API. But basically, in plain C we would have:

Code: Select all

float myFloats[]={1.222f, 2.0f, 3.55555555f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 4.0f};
char* packedFloats=(char*)myFloats;
