Re: questions to java and a real robot

Stefan,

The proximity sensor reading of the ePuck is displayed in the custom user interface! Make sure an obstacle is close enough, otherwise they will simply display a 0. The proximity sensor's range is around 4cm. Also make sure the obstacle is detectable!

Cheers

Re: questions to java and a real robot

Stefan, I am not a Bluetooth expert, but my guess is (and this is also how it works in the K-Junior robot) that you send serial port data that are send via a bluetooth signal and vice-versa. About your other questions: Yes, use simxGetObjectHandle to get the handle of your motors/joints. No, you wil...

Re: How to pass a vector of path nodes?

You are right, The packaging format is little endian . Basically every 4 chars in the string can represent either a 32-bit signed integer value, or a 32-bit floating point value. I am sure there is a conversion in Matlab. Let me know, otherwise we might add a convenience function in the remote API. ...

Re: Blender model color in Vrep

Hello Bela,

As I wrote previously, stl and obj format do not contain color information.
Trying to export to collada from Blender then importing that collada in V-REP kept the colors. There might be exceptions, depending on how your model is described in Blender.

Re: Keep a joints position fixed

Hi Geerten, What you are describing happens when your dynamic simulation set-up is badly designed. Physics engines like Bullet or ODE work with constraints to model joints, and if applied forces are too large (relatively), the constraints can break apart. Try to adjust the masses and inertias for th...

Re: questions to java and a real robot

Hi Stephan, You have several possibilities: You can control the real e-puck from V-REP using serial port commands. Refer to the example model models/robots/mobile/K-junior , and have a look how the serial port connection/communication is made (look into the child script attached to object KJunior_bo...

Re: Resizing walls

Hello Stephan, You can resize isometrically any object / model in this dialog (refer to the scaling button). You can also non-isometrically scale most shapes in this dialog . Some shapes will have to be ungrouped first (then you can regroup them later). You can group/ungroup shapes by selecting them...

Re: How to pass a vector of path nodes?

Hello, Your data is actually a string that may contain any values (e.g. embedded zeros, etc.). A packed table should be seen as a succession of byte values, and you cannot print that string (well, you can, but the output doesn't make sense). A packed table is a convenient way to send data to other e...

Re: braitenberg vehicles in VREP

Hi, For printing something, you can turn on the default console window (on Windows) here . From an embedded script , use print , from a c/c++ plugin, use printf or cout . You can also use an autiliary console window, and print to it. This post suggests something neat. You can also print to the statu...

Re: questions to java and a real robot

Hello Stefan, Glad it works ;) You can have a look at the sample project programming/bubbleRobClient.vcproj (windows) or programming/bubbleRobClient_MakeFile (Mac and Linux). It shows a simple example where you control the BubbleRob robot from an external application. The corresponding scene is scen...
