I'm trying to find/create a model of a basket-like object - a simple hollow cylinder, that should respond to collisions (I want my robot to be able to throw objects into the basket). Would you have one lying around? :-)

Attached is a model of a basket, without bottom. By default it is static, but you can make it non-static in the model properties. We'll include that model into next release.
The basket was made with a succession of pure rectangles for the walls, to get better stability. Since V-REP 3.0.5 there is also support for hollow objects, but only when using the Vortex engine (Bullet and ODE do not support that feature).
