Modifying shapes best way

Post by juerg »

Hi

I have created a simplified model of a basic robot part and want to experiment with different part length and sizes.
I have created connecting elements with 3 cuboids - end cuboids for positioning the joints and a middle part connecting them.
As the grouped element got positioned and rotated I find it rather impossible to lengthen the middle section.
What is a practical way to modify such connection elements in its dimensions in v-Rep?

Hello Juerg,

you have several possibilities:
  • use a prismatic joint to change the length of your link (e.g. part1 --> prismatic joint --> part2GroupedWithPart3)
  • use a force/torque sensor to link your elements, rather than grouping them (e.g. part1 --> force sensor --> part2GroupedWithPart3)
If you want to change the size of a group of objects (or model) in the same way along all 3 dimensions, then you can simply scale them via the object common properties, Scaling item.

Cheers
