Gear Joint in VREP

Post by akrishna34 »

Sir
I am trying to simulate gear joint which I have imported from creo in sldprt format.I first convert that gear into true shape by segmenting into triangles and extract shapes. Then add revolute joint to both gears One of the joint has given some velocity and another is free to rotate. Both gears are collidable but when i simulate only one gear rotates another cannot detect the torque and not able to rotate. Please help me to sort out this problem.
Thank You

Hello,

are you sure that both shapes are dynamic and respondable? For details, make sure to carefully read this page. At the same time, you will never get good results if you rely on contacts between geared shapes: the physics engines do not handle this that well, and might require a lot of computation time. Best would be to use the Vortex engine and define dynamic joint dependencies, as was done in the demo scene gearMechanism.ttt

Cheers
