Connecting a VR Goggles to a Camera in V-Rep

Post by ag_raed »

Hello,

I am asking for the possibilities to connect a VR goggles ( e.g Oculus Rift ) to a Vision Sensor ( e.g RGB-D Camera ) in V-Rep, this would lead us to perform some Immersive Virtual Realities experiments.

Is that feasible in V-Rep?

Thanks.

Hello,

currently this is only possible by streaming the image of two vision sensors to an external application (or plugin) that conditions them for the Occulus (or similar). But this is overly complicated and not efficient.
We plan to renew the rendering engine, and this should then become much easier.

Hi,

I would like to point to our V-REP VR interface available on GitHub: https://github.com/BorisBogaerts/V-REP-VR-Interface.

It is not based on Vision Sensor rendering but it does the trick (maybe even better than using a Vision Sensor).

A demo that is included in the interface:

Kind regards,
