How to move along a trajectory smoothly?

Hello, I have three questions regarding moving along the trajectory.
First, I built a simple vehicle; it was composed of one cylindrical body and four thrusters, much like the quadricopter. The trajectory was read in a child script file. However, when I used simSetObjectPosition and simSetObjectOrientation to move the cylindrical body, all the thrusters did not follow along. Are there any special connections I need to make to ensure the thrusters stick to the body the entire time? I also tried to attach the body to a dummy object and command the dummy to move along the trajectory, in this case, dummy detached itself from the body when simulation started.

Also, the body was not moving forward smoothly. Even though I specified z-coordinate at a constant level the entire time, it jumped up and down between two points. is there any way I can fix it?

My third question is, if I imported the trajectory as a object under the scene hierarchy, how do I move the body along that trajectory object? I cannot seem to figure that out after searching online for a while.
