Exporting meshes in V-REP

Post by darkPaladin » 08 Apr 2019, 15:07

Hi all,

For my current work I need to export meshes (stl) from V-REP and then I need to change those meshes. However, I have been problems with the meshes exported from V-REP mainly at the moment of changing those meshes with a different software (Inventor or Openscad).

1. Exported meshes of simple primitives (spheres, cuboids) can be easily changed with a different software.
2. Exported meshes of grouped or merged objects cannot be changed with a different software.

I have tried both stl formats (binary and ASCII) and it doesn't work.

I wonder if there is any away to export a group of objects as a mesh that can be altered.

Thanks

Hello,

How are you exporting the shape? What V-REP version are you using?

Hi,

I have exported meshes with GUI [Menu bar --> File --> Export --> Selected shapes...] and C++ API (simExportMesh). The V-REP version that I'm using is 3.6.1 (rev. 1)

Thank you

You will have to decompose composite shapes first. Then the items should be exported as separate entities.
