How to detect or measure the painting density with spray gun

Dear all,
Currently I employed the spray gun in the toolbox to paint one target' surface, I wanna know the accurate painting density and thickness during painting operation, so that I can determine the proper painting goals. Anyone can tell me how to detect or measure the painting density and thickness during using the spray gun? Many thanks!

Hello,

you can't really. All you can do it apply small patches of color to an object and via a vision sensor try to compute the proportion of colored surface.

Cheers

Helloļ¼Œcoppelia.
Thank you for your reply.
Actually I tried to use the vision method before, but I really don't know how to define the object I wanna detect. The thickness? or other things the camera will detect? can u give me more details?
Here is the local enlargement of painting effect, thanks !!

I would simply apply color patches to the object, and take an image with the vision sensor. Then compute the relative amount of colorA (paint) in your image, in relation to colorB (non-painted object). ColorC (background) will have to be ignored.
