Light mass wheel problem

Post by enbo »

Dear forum :

I have a question.

My robot works in Newton simulation environment and has a large mass body(70kg), two active wheels, and two passive wheels.
The passive wheels are very small and light(0.1kg).

I found that when I use light wheels, the wheels will sink below the ground. however, when I make the mass bigger(20kg), it will not happen.

what should I do to make the light wheels work well?

Thanks

Does it happen also in the Vortex engine?

With the other engines there's nothing much you can do. This situation where one body's mass is orders of magnitude bigger/smaller will often lead to unstable simulations.

Hello,

make sure to carefully read this page, in particular design considerations 6-8.

Cheers
