How to rename the ROS interface node name?

Dear all, I am trying to run several instances of V-REP in parallel and I currently face a problem with the ROS interface. The problem is that when I open multiple V-REP instances they all start the ROS node called /vrep_ros_interface which triggers a shutdown request for that node. Is there a way t...

Re: Running several scenes in parallel

That sounds really really nice!

By "very soon" do you then mean weeks or months. Just because if it is weeks, then it does not make sense for me to implement my own alternative :-)

Running several scenes in parallel

Hi everyone, It seems like I cannot run several scenes in parallel, does anyone know if this is even possible? I am planning on using V-REP for reinforcement learning and would therefore like several instances of my robot being simulated simultaneously to speed up the learning. I am open to any alte...

Re: V-REP gradually slows down in Docker

Hi Copellia,

I tried this and got the same result. Both the CPU usage and memory usage keeps increasing.
Note that this only happens when running in a docker container. Any ideas for what to test next?

Best Regards,

Re: V-REP gradually slows down in Docker

On closer inspection, it looks like vrep is using more and more memory+CPU after each reset.
What could that be?

Re: sim.launchExecutable does not work in true headless mode

I was not able to spot the problem.

However, a temporary fix is to use the following (on Linux):

Code: Select all

     os.execute("Program PATH" .. " "Program PARAMETERS" ".."&")

Re: V-REP gradually slows down in Docker

Dear Coppelia, Thank you for answers. I do not use simx_opmode_streaming and the simulation is also getting slower when using ROS to start and stop the simulation (where I also check that the simulation, in fact, is stopped and started). Is there anything else that I should be aware of when resettin...

V-REP gradually slows down in Docker

Dear Coppelia and fellow programmers, I am planning to use V-REP for Reinforcement Learning and I would, therefore, like to run several v-rep instances in parallel. For that, I use Docker to create v-rep containers. However, my simulation is gradually getting slower as it is being stopped and starte...

sim.launchExecutable does not work in true headless mode

Dear Coppelia and fellow V-"REPPERS", I have successfully recompiled V-REP in headless mode. However, sim.launchExecutable now fails to start executables (in my case a controller written in C++). Does anyone know why this is? It seems like the rest of the LUA script is executed as expected. Best Reg...
