Can I simulate electromagnets in V-REP

Post by mkyzxd »

Is it possible that I build electromagnets models in V-REP? I want to simulate magnetic force between two components.
Thanks

Hello,

yes, you can do this in various ways:
  • have a look at this post which gives you the rough idea. This is probably the best/most realistic way.
  • you can also simply attach one object to another via a force sensor, which will act as a rigid connection. When the connection is made, the objects will simply stay in position relative to each other (like a simple connector would do).
  • or you can use a dummy-dummy overlap constraint (refer to this section and the loop-closure case), that you turn on/off, which will effectively bring two parts together. This mechanism is used in the model Models/components/grippers/suction pad.ttm, which in turn is used in various scenes such as scenes/blobDetectionWithPickAndPlace.ttt.
Cheers
