I am importing a STL file (which has units in inches) to create a new model.. The other models created previously (which will be used in the same scene) have units in meter. So should I change the units to meter while creating the STL file for the new model or selecting "1 units represents 1 inch" in the Mesh scaling dialog box fixes that??

Also do I need to make the model respondable?

Whether you need to make your model respondable will depend on its function.
