Friction in the material properties

Post by yusuke »

Hi,

I got a problem with friction, so I have read the webpage regarding the simulation friction.
But I could not understand what the "friction" in the material properties means, even if I read the explanation in the official site.
Please tell me what it means and how it is calculated. Also, I want to know whether is there a way to compare it with the real coefficient of friction.
I don't have any experiences of simulation.
So, it might be a simple question to everyone, but I would be happy if you could answer.

Thanks.

Regards,
Yusuke

How friction is approximated in the ODE engine is explained at https://ode.org/ode-latest-userguide.html#sec_3_11_1

Hi fferri

Thank you for your reply.
I have read that page. But I couldn't know which approximation VREP uses.
Do you know about it?

V-REP uses one of 4 different physics engine: Bullet, ODE, Vortex or Newton. V-REP itself doesn't do any physics calculation.
So the friction model will depend on the engine you are using. E.g. if you are using the engine X, then check with google what friction model engine X is using.

Cheers
